Success!!!

The Golf Tournament fundraiser was a success. Going into Monday, it was looking like we might barely break even. However, people turned out and despite a near 40% drop in attendance from previous years, the people that did attend donated above and beyond their ticket prices and we raised enough money to keep the house going and make a few repairs.

Thank you ALL!!!

The Board of Directors.

19th Annual Chrysalis House / Patricia Herbert Memorial Charity Golf Tournament

Dear Friend,

The Board of Directors and residents of The Chrysalis House, Inc. would like to thank you for your past loyalty; we sincerely appreciate your continued support.

We are very pleased and excited to invite you to join us in a wonderful golfing experience this year for our 19th Annual Chrysalis House / Patricia Herbert Memorial, Charity Golf Tournament at the world famous Black Diamond Quarry Course in Lecanto, Florida. The exclusive Black Diamond Ranch is opening its doors to us on Monday, October 5th 2009. Check in time is 10.45a.m. and there will be a 12 noon shotgun start.

The Black Diamond pamphlet describes…"The Quarry; starting from the elevated tee shot on the first hole, the front nine of the Quarry far exceeds most players' expectations of Florida golf. You will experience dramatic elevation shifts, classic bunkering and fairways with thousands of beautiful trees. The back nine is dominated by awe-inspiring quarry holes. As you approach the 13th tee the view will take your breath. This magnificent par 3 plays 183 yards over the smaller of two quarries. The 14th, 15th, and 16th holes are carved around canyon walls and combine challenging shot making opportunities with more awesome views. This magical stretch of holes, called by writer Dan Jenkins "the best five holes of golf anywhere in the world" ends with the 218-yard par 3, 17th. The 17th drops down into the smaller quarry to a green guarded left and rear by 30 foot high limestone cliffs and looks like it has been discovered in a land that time forgot." This is an experience you should not miss!

The beauty of all of this is that by participating in the tournament as a player, a hole sponsor or both; you help The Chrysalis House and honor Patricia Herbert’s hard work and commitment to continue to provide a safe, structured and nurturing environment for women to recover from alcohol and drug addiction. We are the only facility of its kind in the greater Tampa area. We are a 501 C 3 non-profit charity that has been helping women for over 25 years. Our strict rules, high success rate and low cost to client allow us to stand apart. We can only continue with your help, and your help saves lives!

Hole sponsorships are available for $300.00; your name, or your company's name on one of the magnificent holes of this golf course. The player entrance fee is $300.00 and provides each golfer with a box lunch, deluxe goodie bag, cart & green fees, refreshments on the course and a delightful banquet dinner after the tournament followed by an awards presentation. As always, there will be a great raffle for your participation.

Please send your hole sponsorships and player entrance fee checks to: The Chrysalis House Inc.,

The Chrysalis House, Inc. of Tampa, Florida

In 1983, three women had a dream to provide a safe and secure place for women to heal and grow during the process of recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. These professional women made that dream come true with pot -luck dinners, secondhand furniture and small donations from friends and family- along with the help from our corporate friends. The dream became a reality; a recovery home for women, a home that would provide a safe, structured and nurturing environment conductive to recovery from alcoholism and drug addiction.

The residents of The Chrysalis House, Inc. are bound by a strict set of rules that provide the structure they need to turn their lives around and become contributing members of society. The women attend a twelve-step meeting on a daily basis, have a curfew, participate in individualized treatment programs, perform assigned daily chores and have a job. There is a zero tolerance policy for drug and alcohol use.

We have a working relationship with several treatment centers and hospitals in the Tampa Bay area. Our applicants come to us from local centers as-well-as the Betty Ford Center and Hazelton Treatment Centers. The Chrysalis House, Inc. has enjoyed a very high success rate through the years; seventy percent recovery for alcoholics and sixty percent for drug addicts stay clean and sober.
